We look at Fashion as a way to express one’s identity while showing respect to each other and the environment.

Clothes tell stories, and what we wear matters. By honoring ancestral traditions, we strive to make the fashion industry more sustainable.

“Organic Couture” is an environmentally conscious fashion concept that creates timeless pieces that inspire a renewed relationship with animals and the ecosystem. The Nativemind by Jasmin Santanen line combines French savoir-faire with native tanning practices to create a product that is both eco-friendly and fashion-forward.

We use carefully sourced materials to ensure the best quality and minimize environmental impact. Then, a final garment is created by bridging our technical expertise with traditional craftsmanship and a modern aesthetic. All of our garments are held to the highest standards of creation and craftsmanship.

To achieve a structural balance combining weight, drape, and hand, we thoroughly navigated through each step in the experimental design process. Our initial design begins with two-dimensional sketches that capture the feel and essence of each style. To transform an idea into a wearable piece, a first toile sample is made resembling the intended vision before cutting in final fabrics.

There is a notion amongst indigenous societies that an animal entrusts a person with its life, and in return, humans benefit from their protection and resources. As our ancestors everywhere once knew, our survival depends on the survival of other species. Animals have long provided human with food, knowledge, medicine, and warmth.

From bark to beauty: natural tanning and dyeing transform wild fish skin into luxury “fabric”

We believe that embracing an animistic mindset allows for a more grounded relationship with the environment. Our first Nativemind designs feature organic fur, leather, and fish skin resourced exclusively from animals who have lived and died entirely in their natural habitat, emphasizing this philosophy.

Inspired by the knowledge and respect for the natural process of survival, it was a pleasure to collaborate with tanner Hanna Nore. Upholding methods that honor indigenous traditions and the symbiotic relationship between animals and humans, Hanna’s expertise enabled us to present an ecologically conscious and aesthetically contemporary-Nativemind by Jasmin Santanen Organic Couture debut line.
